I am a tutor located in Grand Rapids, MI. I believe that developing strong study skills early on is the key to success. This begins with a solid foundation, and a positive attitude towards learning. My education and work has given me an appreciation for the meaning and value of one-on-one learning. I first gained an appreciation for teaching others in high school, where I was an avid tutor. I taught Math, Computer Science, and Supply Chain Management. I hold a degree in Applied Mathematics from California State University, Chico. My goal is to help students understand concepts. I excel at tutoring in a variety of subjects, but I most enjoy teaching others about Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, Reading, Writing, History, and Government. Mastering mathematical concepts can be challenging, and I understand that when a student is struggling, it can affect their confidence and self esteem. I use emotional intelligence to gauge the student's level of understanding and adjust my approach in order to best meet their needs. I apply many of the same ideals to my academic pursuits as well as pursuits in my personal life. When I am not teaching, I enjoy playing chess, philosophy, and politics.
